What?
Botswana is a beautiful country in the southern part of Africa. It is known for its gorgeous wildlife and amazing sights, yet much of the population lives in material poverty. The volunteers will engage with HOPEww programs in a rural community outside of the capital Gaborone. At night they will stay in Gaborone but during the day they will work in the community of Kweneng East and the village of Molepolole. They will provide support to the Early Childhood Development program, the mentoring program for teenagers, the women’s empowerment program, etc. For those who enjoy physical tasks, there will be opportunities to upscale a community bakery, toilet facilities, and a library. If the volunteers have the required skills, they will also support the financial literacy program, computer classes, etc.
Those who want to extend their stay after the Volunteer Corps (or come early) can enjoy the many sightseeing and safari opportunities this beautiful country has to offer.
As stated above, much of the rural population experiences material poverty, so support is needed.
