Guatemala, Winter 2020

What?

HOPE worldwide ’s long-standing Community Service Brigades (CSB) program provides short-term,

high-impact volunteer opportunities for those in the medical, dental, counseling and education fields to use their skills and experience to serve the materially poor. Improving health outcomes improves educational outcomes, as well as employment. The need for volunteers goes beyond medical and dental care.

Minor construction projects, children’s programs and other mutual service opportunities are there for any type of volunteer.

Why?

Guatemala is in many ways an economically challenged country. The minimum wage is around $400 per month. Many of the neighborhoods in Guatemala City are filled with families who are economically disadvantaged. Medicines and medical treatment for those families are often out of reach, especially for those who have chronic illnesses.

Who?

Volunteers will serve communities around Guatemala City and Escuintla.
