Honduras, Winter 2020

What?

HOPE worldwide’s long-standing Community Service Brigades (CSB) program provides short-term,
high-impact volunteer opportunities for those in the medical, dental, counseling and education fields to use their skills and experience to serve the materially poor. Improving health outcomes improves educational outcomes, as well as employment. The need for volunteers goes beyond medical and dental care.
Minor construction projects, children’s programs and other mutual service opportunities are there for any type of volunteer.

Why?

Honduras is in many ways an economically challenged country. The minimum wage is around $400 per month. A violent history has driven many to try and flee Honduras. The situation is improving, but many are left underemployed and with little financial resources. Costs of medicines are typically high and can be out of reach for those with chronic illnesses.

Who?

Volunteers will serve the communities in San Pedro Sula, Monteverde, Chamelecon and San Antonio.
Focus: Medical and dental care, educational programs in and around San Pedro Sula
Dates: January 23-27
Ages: All (under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian)
