Did you know that the state of Minnesota has more shorelines than California, Florida, and Hawaii combined? AND Minneapolis alone has 22 lakes located within its borders! Participants will have time to explore the beauty here – like the scenic Minnehaha Falls- and have their hearts filled with the joy God gives when we show compassion and empathy to those who need a bit of community support.
The Minneapolis HVC will dive into several of the local Chapter’s existing community partnerships, some of which are up to 15 years strong! We will facilitate HOPEww’s signature Saturday SPARK Academy as a week-long summer camp at a partner charter school. The Saturday SPARK program encourages the development of resilience in elementary-aged children living in under-resourced and/or trauma-affected communities. This trauma-research-informed curriculum uses special projects & psycho-social activities to explore four key characteristics associated with resilience.
We will also spend time learning from and helping at several community partnerships focusing on children, teens, and young adults experiencing homelessness.
