Hope Worldwide. Bringing Hope. Changing Lives.

Tucson Volunteer Corps

(June 26 - July 8)

FULL

What?

Join us at the Casa Alitas Hospitality Center (the central hub for all Southern Arizona refugees) as we serve the refugee families that are dropped off by the Border Patrol every day after they are cleared for admission to the U.S. We have all seen the caravans of refugees walking from Central America to the U.S. border, in the hope of a better life. When people finally make it to the U.S., they need much support. They do not speak the language; they need medical care, clothes, a place to stay, a way to connect with friends or relatives.

At Casa Alitas, the HVC participants will welcome families, provide medical check-ups, help them find clothes in the well-stocked supply of donated items, assist them with contacting friends or relatives, and provide play therapy for the children. They will also help with renovations at the center. A knowledge of Spanish is useful but not mandatory.

Why?

Thousands of refugee families from every corner of the world are in Tucson, Arizona. Without people-powered shelters, many families would be abandoned on the streets in a foreign country without food, water, or any essentials.

Who?

Service to refugee families.

AUDIENCE: All-generations program. Family friendly. Anyone below the age of 15 will need a parent to accompany them. No special skills needed, but medical professionals will be very helpful.
