2017 Impact Report: Tijuana Report

Through the efforts of compassionate volunteers, HOPE worldwide aims to provide outpatient medical and dental care and educational opportunities for the ICOC church families and their neighbors living in desperately poor communities outside of the United States. As a faith-based program, the Community Service Brigades were born out of the Christian conviction that we can and must do a better job of reaching out to those in need in our family of churches and the community at large in Latin America. Our Brigade teams enjoy times of prayer and fellowship together as well as an opportunity to attend Sunday worship with members of a local International Church of Christ.

Areas of Service Impact

Since 2010, teams of volunteers have delivered critical medical, dental and educational services to families living below the poverty line in some of the world’s poorest communities thanks to the contributions of generous donors and dedicated volunteers. They have made the following possible for the poor in Central America:

  • 500 students from six churches are currently enrolled in ESL classes
  • 6,300 prescription and reading glasses have been provided at no charge
  • 12,400 patients have received anti-parasite medicine
  • 30,000 medical and dental patient visits have been provided by U.S. healthcare professionals
  • 50,300 prescriptions have been distributed at no charge
  • 1.1 million multi-vitamins have been distributed free of charge
  • $1.5 million of medicines and medical and dental supplies have been donated

Get Involved

Imagine the impact you could make in a community or the blessing you could be to a family by giving a weekend of your time to join a HOPE worldwide Community Service Brigade. If you are a doctor, dentist, nurse, educator, or just want to make a difference, please consider joining us in Central America. Anyone interested in working hard to bring faith, hope and love to others is welcome to apply. We especially need bilingual Spanish speakers of any occupation! Truly, the difference you will make to someone in need is indescribable and will bring you back again and again.
