HOPEww Congratulates Dave Tomlinson on His Retirement

December 20, 2024

After six inspiring years of compassionate service and outstanding leadership, Dave Tomlinson is announcing his well-deserved retirement.

Dear HOPE worldwide staff and family,

We have some exciting yet bittersweet news to share.

After six inspiring years of compassionate service and outstanding leadership, Dave Tomlinson is announcing his well-deserved retirement.

Before serving with HOPEww, Dave had spent 30 years as a firefighter. Those of us who were around when Dave first joined HOPEww felt his impact and presence immediately. His exceptional leadership and emergency response experience quickly elevated our Community Service Brigades and in-kind donor partnerships to new heights. Additionally, because of Dave’s leadership and teamwork, in 2022 HOPEww received its largest donation of medicine in its history, nearly $30 million worth of medicine and medical supplies that HOPEww distributed to roughly 100 hospitals throughout Ukraine.

There are so many other great things Dave has accomplished, and valuable relationships he has built through helping those in crisis. We will all miss Dave’s warmth, his huge heart, and his passion for people in need. As we remember so many of Dave’s wonderful qualities, it’s likely that most of us will remember that what guided and motivated Dave in all he did were the Apostle Paul’s words, “Remember the poor.” What an amazing legacy he leaves with us! He plans to retire to Arizona and spend more time with his wife Angela and their new grandchild.

The growth of the HOPE worldwide Community Service Brigades program will continue and is currently being led by Daniel Dicochea, Director of International Community Development Programs.

On a recent visit to serve with HOPE worldwide Bolivia, I had the honor of meeting an incredible young man named Farid. Over the past 8 years, Farid has lived at Casa Esperanza, a boys home for abandoned children, and a longtime partner of HOPE ww Bolivia. For nearly a decade, HOPE ww has come alongside these vulnerable children with literacy, mentorship, and other support programs to help them graduate and find a job and community where they can thrive.
