A tsunami warning is in effect for coastal areas of Alaska's Cook Inlet and southern Kenai Peninsula after an earthquake struck Friday with a preliminary magnitude of 7.0, according to a bulletin from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. HOPEww reached out to the Anchorage Chapter and ICOC Church Partners in the area and there does not seem to be major damage reported at the moment.
Nick Morrell, HOPEww Campus Club Director and Fairbanks Church Leader reported this: "Thank you for the quick response. Seems like everyone is safe up here. Shaken up for sure, but safe. I haven't heard of any loss of life or major damage. As far as I know, all the disciples and their homes are good -mostly just needing to clean up... Glad to know HOPE ww's response team is ready at a moment's notice!"
We will keep you posted of any further developments!
