Funds will be used to distribute food, PPE and to educate
families in Indonesia.

PRESS RELEASE:

HOPE worldwide has received a generous grant of $207,000 from the Caterpillar Foundation for its COVID-19 relief efforts. All of these funds will be used in Indonesia to support the ongoing needs in the community from the current crisis. HOPE worldwide Indonesia will focus on three main goals: distribute PPE to hospitals, supply food and educate families.

We are so grateful to our wonderful partners at the Caterpillar Foundation for this generous grant. The world is hurting right now, and it’s more important than ever that we work together to help people in need. As David Malutinok, President of HOPE worldwide , said, “It’s strong partnerships like this that are helping to provide families and communities with relief during this crisis. We are so grateful for their ongoing support.”

HOPE worldwide and the Caterpillar Foundation have had a longstanding partnership for years in fighting disasters in Indonesia. Several years ago, the Caterpillar Foundation provided funds to support a disaster preparedness program in Eastern Indonesia. It was a very successful program and the start of a great collaboration to help people in need. The Caterpillar Foundation’s most recent investment is part of a larger commitment that is being distributed among a number of organizations and COVID-19 funds around the world, including United Nations Foundation/World Health Organization Solidarity Response Fund, Global Foodbanking Network and and HOPE worldwide to support COVID-19 global relief efforts and help organizations impacted by the pandemic. Charles Ham, HOPEww Disaster Response Advisor, resides in Indonesia and has been developing this great partnership over many years. Charles said, “It’s been a pleasure seeing the benefits these funds are having in our community. This impact wouldn't be possible without the support of the Caterpillar Foundation.”

HOPE worldwide Indonesia has already begun to put the Caterpillar Foundation’s funds to work and is focusing on three main objectives over the next three months: distribute 1,200 sets of personal protective equipment to hospitals and clinics, distribute 1,200 food baskets to people affected economically and provide key COVID-19 education awareness to 1,200 families. HOPE worldwide Indonesia has started delivering PPE supplies, which include the following: HAZMAT coveralls, shoe covers, gloves, surgical masks, goggles and face shields, along with providing educational posters for the clinics and hospitals.

The food baskets have also started to be assembled, and HOPE worldwide Indonesia has a distribution plan for the next three months. As the food baskets are distributed, families will also be educated by receiving detailed posters on COVID-19 prevention.

The COVID-19 pandemic and economic shutdown has devastated communities everywhere. HOPE worldwide has been actively responding to this global crisis by deploying relief food and supplies to nations facing extreme food shortages. Specifically in Indonesia, our team has been busy distributing masks, educating families on COVID-19 and providing Mobile Handwashing Units for densely populated communities like Cilincing, Tanah Merah, Kemayoran, and Cengkareng.

HOPE worldwide is extremely grateful for our partnership with the Caterpillar Foundation and for their generous donation. With this COVID-19 relief, hospitals, families and communities in Indonesia will be able to continue the fight against this pandemic. We are proud to stand together in unity with our partners at the Caterpillar Foundation to bring love and hope to those in need.
