Anthony has gone on Volunteer Corps to Russia, Croatia, and the Philippines. As a typical student with no money, Anthony was able to pay for all of his trips simply by fundraising. He did not even ask for a scholarship! Here are his top fundraising tips:
1. Never compromise: prayer, fasting and time in the Word. When I am close to God, I set myself up for success and prepare my heart for difficulty.
2. Speak at church on Sunday for announcements. Put your name on the church flyer about your cause.
3. I went to local businesses and asked if I could set up a booth at their restaurant for a spirit night. I did one at Chick-fil-A and made like $800 one night.
4. Send out a letter to family and friends and write cards about your fundraiser.
5. I used to walk into nice neighborhoods and promote my cause and ask if they needed lawn mowing or painting around the house. A brother had a lawnmower and we made a job out of it. We went to people's houses and when we noticed weeds we knocked right away and easily got up to as much as $300 per house.
6. Talk to married couples at church who need help babysitting or house sitting.
7. I would change my budget and not eat out. So making all meals at home and not eating out saved me a lot of side money.
8. I would make flyers and just ask my friends to give it to friends and family as a fast way of marketing.
9. I would create a slideshow/presentation board and always have information that was tangible for people to read and see. When people see your effort they will bless you.
10. Just talk about it! I literally was so fired up about my trip, I was talking with my dad and a guy overheard me and like donated $75 at a coffee shop.
