HOPE Youth Corps / HOPEww Singles Corps: How We Can Serve Your Church

Hope Worldwide • September 12, 2016

We send HYC/HSC to far flung places all over the world. One of the most encouraging things of the recent past is the way our volunteers have had an impact on the local churches.

Read what Anu Dangol, Nepal HWW leader, has to share about the positive influence of the HYC and HSC groups that have served in Kathmandu:

“In 2015, for the first time, we welcomed both a Singles Corps in November and a Family Corps in December over Christmas. The Singles Corps came first and worked very hard at the HWW school. One of the things they did was to pave the whole playground so the children would not have to play in the mud during the monsoon season. They also revamped the computer lab, and raised funds for new computers.

Not only did they serve at the HWW programs, but the group also spent a lot of time with the Kathmandu church. Imagine having 33 singles from all over the world fellowship with a church of 100 members! It was so encouraging! The two week service trip ended with a singles retreat with the singles of the Nepal church.

Just a few short weeks later, we hosted 46 volunteers, a mixed group of families, teens, students, and again some singles. Most of them came from the UK, but we also had people from the US, Singapore, China… They all spent Christmas with our HWW programs and the church. They again served at the school, built a garden, an extra classroom, brand new benches and desks. They taught the children, and counselled the families.

They spent much time with the families of the church, teaching the parents, the teens. They held open Q&A sessions, and had an unprecedented impact on the church. Amongst the group were several strong families of disciples, including an elder from the London church, Andrew Agerbak, who brought his wife, his four children, and his own father!

We are always happy to organize volunteer trips for congregations or ministries who want to serve together. E-mail Nadine Templer at nadine.templer@hopeww.org.

We are now looking forward to hosting another HOPE Youth Corps/Volunteer Corps this coming Christmas. We expect over 50 volunteers from all over the world. People have applied from Australia, Singapore, the UK, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the US, Canada, India, etc. The trip will end with a church retreat to kick off 2017! Our plan is to repeat this program every year. We are already dreaming of Christmas 2018!

Our church has been so encouraged and so enriched by the teaching, fellowship, and general inspiration of all the volunteers who have come from all over the world!”
