Wallace Chan , a young man from Hong Kong, who studies in Melbourne, Australia, went on Volunteer Corps to the Philippines a year ago. This Christmas, he served on the Nepal Volunteer Corps. I have personally seen him mature so much over the last one year, and growing into a future leader! This is what he has to share...
"Really, really grateful for this incredible opportunity to serve in Kathmandu, Nepal! It was such an awesome experience that strengthened my faith, and just kept me going on my journey with God. Being able to see all the mountains, and just be amazed by how crazy it is that I am serving a God that creates everything by words.
People in Nepal aren’t living in the best conditions, but they showed me that joy isn’t about the material, but is determined by where we focus our mind. Little things like a hug or a smile can literally make someone’s day and it definitely made my days just to see the smile on the kids’ faces.
The disciples that I got to spend every day with truly demonstrated what is it like to be a servant of Christ. Throughout the whole trip, no one complains, no one said anything negative, all they wanted is to serve and be like Jesus.
I just want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to this trip, and people who joined a Volunteer Corps all over the world. I certainly felt like I was not really making an impact somewhere along the trip, but God used the five loaves of bread and two fish that we gave, and made it more than enough to the people we served.
I really really encourage whoever reads this message to join a Volunteer Corps. I am sure God will use it to change your life dramatically. Love y’all 💛 💛 💛 "
