A Conversation with El Salvador Country Director, Jaime Henriquez

HOPE worldwide • April 22, 2022

Country Director, Jaime Henriquez shared his thoughts on the significance and impact of

HOPE worldwide Community Service Brigades. Read the conversation below:

Q: What does it mean for the CSBs to come to your country?

A: For me, it is a unique experience to make connections between different countries, cultures, and an opportunity to share the love of God. It is a real privilege to have the CSB in our country.

Q: Why is it important for the CSBs to continue coming to your country?

A: They are so important. The CSBs train our hearts in compassion, and they permit us to think of ourselves a little less and serve others as Jesus would. It not only heals the physical suffering but also heals the hearts and inspires hope.

Q: Where will we serve when we go to your country?

A: There are many communities in need. Currently, we serve three of those communities (Cereto, Santa Ana, y San Salvador) and offer medical treatments. Also, we engage the children in the community by providing them with material for learning, and we build relationships through a special time of play and laughter. El Salvador is full of magical places, but the most amazing thing that you will experience is the people.

Q: How are the people in your country impacted by the CSBs?

A: This is truly the most important thing of all that we do. Every time that you observe a smile and hear ‘gracias’ from the people that we support, our hearts are full of joy and peace. Every effort counts and works. CSBs have impacted many lives in El Salvador, and we trust that God will continue to use them for good.
