HOPEww Responding to Super Typhoon Rai

HOPE worldwide • December 20, 2021

UPDATE 2.15.22

Due to your generous support, HOPEww was able to respond to the major destruction caused by Super Typhoon Rai (Odette) and provide immediate aid to families and communities in need.

Our disaster response team was able to work with our partners on the ground to provide as much assistance as possible to families in need, including delivering food, providing shelter and funds for immediate relief. We are so thankful for the many prayers, support, and donations. Thank you for supporting people during this time of need. Together we can inspire greater hope.

UPDATE 2.1.22

The destruction and impact from Typhoon Rai (Odette), which struck the Philippines in December 2021, is still being felt today by many families and communities. It was the most powerful and damaging typhoon since Haiyan in 2013.

HOPEww Philippines’ Disaster Response Team is actively responding and assisting with relief and recovery in multiple locations. Several families who are part of our church partner, the International Churches of Christ, suffered severe damage to their homes. HOPEww is assisting with relief funds to support families and communities.

Kim Aljon Alqueza, a brother in Manila, Philippines, shared the devastation that his family and fellow residents in Bohol, Philippines, suffered due to Typhoon Rai’s (Odette's) wrath, days before the rest of the globe celebrated Christmas 2021.

He is thankful for the love, encouragement, and prayers of our global family and the help and assistance extended by ICOC Philippines and HOPE worldwide, making it possible for them to build a shelter for their family since the typhoon left hundreds of victims in Bohol homeless, without electricity and water for several days or even weeks. Kim's family also received a care package and other essentials. (Check out the video to see the full story.)

Currently, the restoration of power and water supply remains a challenge in typhoon-hit areas, including Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands in Mindanao, five provinces in the Visayas, and the island of Palawan in Luzon.

Your prayers and support can go a long way in the recovery of the typhoon victims and their families.

UPDATE 12.20.21

HOPEww is actively responding to the major destruction caused by Super Typhoon Rai by providing immediate aid to families and communities in need. The Philippines have been affected by widespread flooding and damage since Typhoon Rai (Odette) made landfall last Thursday.

Our disaster response team has been working with our partners on the ground to provide as much assistance as possible to families in need, including delivering food, providing shelter and funds for immediate relief. Several of our partnering churches in Mindanao and Visayas have families that have been affected with damage to homes and are in need of food and supplies to rebuild.

We ask that you pray for our brothers and sisters affected by Super Typhoon Rai. Due to the devastation caused over the last few days, families and communities will need help rebuilding. If you would like to support our ongoing Global Disaster Response efforts, click below to donate.
