Standing Together

HOPE worldwide • July 31, 2020

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” - Martin Luther King Jr.

HOPE worldwide is focused on taking the initiative in supporting a more just and inclusive world. As an organization, we celebrated Juneteenth on June 19th and took the day off to honor the freedom of our Black brothers and sisters in America. Additionally, we are currently working on the following preliminary steps to help our staff, organization and community by:

  1. Forming a Social Cultural Unity and Diversity Team (SCUAD) that will spearhead internal and external diversity efforts.
  2. Consulting with Diversity Professionals and Youth Advocates to provide guidance and insight.
  3. Recently started a Diversity Training for staff led by Bob Keen and Kendall & Dian Knight.
  4. Adding more education, training and awareness in our programs including developing a Cultural Humility & Racial Equity Training, which will use storytelling to address cultural humility, anti-racism, unconscious bias and respect in the context of volunteerism.

As an organization, we believe in the importance of growing together in this journey and are committed to doing everything in our power to stand up to injustice, in all forms. We have a long way to go in our growth, but we’re taking steps to move forward. Pray for our efforts as we endeavor to bring hope and change to a hurting world. “And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

Sincerely,

HOPE worldwide
