HOPE worldwide invited to speak at the W4UA

World For Ukraine Summit in Poland

HOPE worldwide is honored to have our Senior Director of Disaster Response, Dave Tomlinson, and our Global Psychosocial Support Advisor, Amanda Sanders, both invited to present as speakers at the World for Ukraine conference this week, alongside luminaries and top government officials from across Europe and the globe.  They will be sharing about ongoing work in the community, and sharing about psychosocial support being provided by HOPE worldwide volunteers in Ukraine. The conference will take place in Rzeszów, Poland from December 7-9th.

The World for Ukraine (W4UA) Summit focuses on world leaders, organizations and people who are actively engaged in relief efforts for Ukraine. The Summit attracts central and local government institutions, international organizations, NGOs, businesses, think tanks and media from Ukraine and the world at large.  Also speaking at the conference is Alexander Romanishyn, Policy Advisor with the Reform Delivery Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, who is serving as an advisor to HOPE worldwide Ukraine and has been a great support to our efforts on the ground and was crucial to helping us coordinate distribution of $20 million in medicine and medical supplies to families throughout Ukraine.

HOPE worldwide President/CEO &

Sr. Director of Disaster Response visit Ukraine

Dave Malutinok, President/CEO and Dave Tomlinson, Sr. Director of Disaster Response, recently visited Kiev, Ukraine, to support our ongoing efforts and meet with key leaders of HOPE worldwide Ukraine, Ukraine Minister of Health and his deputies and the Ukrainian church leaders.

They were able to also visit the cities of Bucca and Irpin (near Kyiv) where much devastation occurred. HOPE worldwide, the Kiev church and the Ministry of Health are working on opportunities to partner to provide food, psychosocial support and other needs to some of the more devastated areas in that location.

They also were able to join the 30th-anniversary celebration of the Kyiv Church of Christ where over 700 people assembled less than 10 hours after five missiles exploded in the city.

Dave Tomlinson described the emotions experienced by their visit as “sorrow, joyful, unknown, resilience, inspiring, faithful and determined.”

Almost 1,100 Ukrainian Refugees Placed In Homes!

HOPE worldwide, working with our partners throughout Europe, has been able to place almost 1,100 Ukrainian Refugees in homes. Our team is coordinating with our staff & volunteers in Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, and the United Kingdom to provide these refugee families with financial, emotional, and physical support.

The process begins with our HOPE
worldwide staff, working with Ukrainian-speaking volunteers, and contacting refugee families seeking help. Over the process of 2-10 days, our team is able to help these families work through the legal process, provide emotional support, supply the financial means, and organize transportation to the home of their host families.

As the refugee families arrive at their new homes, they are met with love and compassion from HOPE worldwide staff and volunteers. Since the first week of the war, our team in Europe has set up care teams with Ukrainian or Russian-speaking volunteers for the Ukrainians. For refugees needing psychological support, our team connects them with Ukrainian-speaking psychologists via Zoom or in the cities they have relocated to.

The families are provided with vouchers for groceries, hygiene articles, clothes, as well as shoes if needed. It can take anywhere from a few days up to two-three weeks until they receive financial support from the state, making the supply of vouchers very important.
Your financial support has helped to fund these vouchers as well as warm meals and emergency supplies for Ukrainian refugees.

After a day or two of rest for the refugees, the real work begins. People have to register and go through a strenuous process that involves a lot of administrative work. There are a lot of papers and applications to fill out that people need a lot of help with. This is where our HOPE
worldwide staff volunteers are highly necessary and invaluable. Our experience has shown that the registration process takes about 6-8 weeks and without support, it takes about 5-6 weeks more.

Your donations have supported this great work as well as the ongoing food and medicine distribution throughout Ukraine.
Thank you for your generosity and support during this crisis. It has had a tremendous impact on those in need. If you would like to support, click the link below:

We are grateful for the many offers to host displaced Ukrainian citizens. The U.S. government recently announced their Uniting for Ukraine sponsorship program. Because the government is requiring sponsors to make a substantial financial commitment, complete a detailed application process as well as undergo thorough government vetting, we are encouraging all prospective sponsors to visit dhs.gov/ukraine to apply for sponsorship.  HOPEww will continue to direct our resources to supporting thousands of displaced Ukrainians within Ukraine and Europe by supplying desperately needed food, medical supplies, psychosocial support, transportation and shelter. You can also continue to help our ongoing relief efforts by making a donation. Thank you to all who have given generously. It is changing lives.

The pessimist complains about the wind. The optimist expects it to change. The leader adjusts the sails. -John Maxwell On my recent travels to San Salvador to participate in HOPE worldwide 's Community Service Brigades, I had the privilege of serving alongside many of our HOPE worldwide team members with several medical professionals in a children's school in Suchitoto, where we provided much-needed medical and dental assistance. After an eventful first day of the Community Service Brigade, we boarded the buses to return to our hotel in San Salvador. While everyone enjoyed engaging with the local community, it was evident that we were all fatigued, in need of a shower, and looking forward to dinner. We set off on the hour and a half drive back to San Salvador on two buses. However, about an hour from the hotel, our bus broke down, leaving us stranded on the side of the road. We called for the first bus, which turned around to pick us up. This took about an additional hour to resolve. Imagine the scene: everyone tired, sweaty, and hungry. Amid this unfortunate turn of events, I witnessed exceptional leadership from a local church leader named Josue Ortega.
