HOPE worldwide Staff Spotlight: Scott and Mary McNair

Since 1993, Scott and Mary McNair have volunteered and supported HOPE worldwide programs in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts, inspired by program coordinators and their devotion to those in need. This summer, their desire to serve will take them on an adventure from their home in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, all the way to Southeast Asia to serve as administrative consultants for the Sonja Kill Memorial Hospital (SKMH) in the southern province of Kampot, Cambodia. Scott will focus on Administration and Plant Management, while Mary will work in Strategy and Development.

An answer to many years of prayer, God is fulfilling the McNairs’ dream to serve him at HOPE worldwide. They served together in the New York City ministry before relocating back to Massachusetts ten years ago. Formerly the executive director of the YMCA, Scott currently uses his skills in business operations as a high school athletic director. Mary is an experienced director of healthcare administration, overseeing multiple community healthcare centers on Cape Cod.

Scott will also help manage a $490,000 grant recently received from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which is funding a new CT scan, ultrasound, and mobile X-ray unit at SKMH. USAID has been an official partner of HOPE worldwide since 1995, and the McNairs provide valuable expertise and skill to manage and develop this and other valuable partnerships.

Scott and Mary’s other goals include strengthening the hospital’s management, implementing technological and electronic medical record advancements, and serving in Cambodia’s more remote areas by opening satellite medical centers to focus on urgent care, primary care and women’s and pediatric health.

Humbled by the opportunity to serve in the healing ministry of Jesus, the McNairs are excited for relationship building, constant learning and deep compassion to guide their work with the hospital staff. They also hope to involve their three adult children in this work with them.

Scott and Mary are thrilled to use their skills to the glory of God and to help Cambodian people. They know this commitment requires them to be learners who listen well, study, and immerse themselves in their new culture as they love and serve.
