HSC Haiti 2015 Testimony By O'Marie J. Pemberton

Hope Worldwide • April 24, 2015

HSC Haiti 2015 was definitely a life-changing experience for me! I felt as if this trip enabled me to step into the next dimension in my relationship with God. It opened my eyes and ultimately my heart on a lot of things. One thing in particular is the fact that God TRULY takes care of his own. We are so blessed to live in a country where we are afforded all these liberties, but I realized that I was guilty of attributing my blessings in terms of meaningless things. After being in Haiti, and seeing streets that are littered with garbage and where the availability of water, electricity, food and clothing are all scarce, I couldn't get over the fact, that despite these conditions, the JOY that the people have never faded! Then I realized, its because they understand that their source of strength and security lie only in Him. Personally that was convicting for me to see.
Each day serving with disciples all over the world and being on one accord as we served our brothers and sisters in the HOPE village and showing love to the orphans, it just placed a lot of things in perspective. Now, everyday Matthew 6:33, resonates with me and I thank God for all the simple things in life and with that I understand how rich we truly are. Ultimately it comes back to love and as we know God is love. Haiti is a piece of heaven that has forever changed my heart and I encourage you to get out there and serve in an environment that is out of your comfort zone because not only will you be serving those at that destination, but the heart you develop afterwards when you come home, will continue to be a blessing to many more! Have a blessed forever.
