HSC Haiti – An unforgettable memory! By Anne Du Sault

Hope Worldwide • April 17, 2015

When my friend emailed me about the HWW Singles Corps in Haiti, I only had a few minutes left to sign up. Once I received confirmation of acceptance, I felt excited, but at the same time scared. I hesitated when I learned from the information email that I would need to sleep on hard wood, take bucket showers with cold water, be without electricity unexpectedly, and sleep under a mosquito net. I asked myself... Why am I doing this at 54 years old? Well, God answered this question several times through the lessons I learned during the trip. What God taught me was:

  1. Focus more on giving than making sure all my needs are being met.
  2. Trust in all circumstances (even when the road doesn’t look like one or
the chauffeur is driving on the wrong side of the road).
  3. Get out of my comfort zone without complaining.
  4. Discover and share with wonderful people of God who love serving 24/7.
  5. Have an impact on the life of orphans and other children by showing them love and compassion.

I came back to Montreal with a heart filled with bright smiles, new flavours, colourful sunsets, natural and spiritual beauty, as well as a deep gratitude for God’s kingdom and blessings.

There is no age limit for experiencing God’s eye-opening humility. If you feel you need a change of heart, then pick a destination, start saving now and let God work!
