Every Child Deserves Resources For Good Health

HOPE worldwide is committed to being a passionate force for good in the world. Where poverty produces suffering and despair, HOPE worldwide inspires greater hope with compassion and tangible resources for our neighbors in need. Today we are raising funds, and we hope you can help fuel our global impact.

With this in mind, we’d like to share a story of impact from one of our HOPE
ww Country Directors, Priscilla Sine Mal, detailing how donations have helped save many lives in the remote villages of Papua New Guinea.

Last year, HOPE
worldwide delivered a shipment to Papua New Guinea containing more than 332,000 units of essential medicines and medical supplies to our HOPE worldwide clinics located in both Port Moresby and some of the more rural areas across the highlands. These shipments provided lifesaving treatment and medicine for 97,400 patients.

Additionally, the local government reported that the rates of waterborne illnesses were increasing in remote villages, and even resulted in several deaths. Fortunately, Priscilla was familiar with how HOPE worldwide had used water filters to purify contaminated water in disaster areas, and she realized that these filters could be the solution.

Because thoughtful donors like you stepped up, HOPE
worldwide was able to purchase and deploy the new filters. Traveling by canoe for many days, with delays from stormy weather, HOPE worldwide staff delivered the water filters to over 300 families and trained the villagers on how to use and maintain them. Some of the villagers said it was the first time in their lives they had seen clear drinking water.

11 months after the delivery, cases of waterborne illnesses in those villages were reduced by over 99%, dropping from over 700 cases down to only 3. Seeing the profound impact on the village’s health, the provincial government of Papua New Guinea is now partnering with HOPE worldwide to make water filters even more accessible to other rural parts of the country.

The regional Governor for East Sepik province stated that
“these filters SOLVE the problem of clean water availability for the province.”

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend and brother, Dave Tomlinson. Dave was a beloved part of the HOPE worldwide family who served in many capacities throughout his time with us, most recently as Chief Operating Officer before his retirement. He also played an important role in our Global Disaster Response and Community Service Brigades teams, serving alongside his wife, Angela. More than the roles he held, Dave was a cherished friend whose warmth, kindness, and genuine spirit touched so many people. His care for others was evident in the way he served, led, and built relationships with people around the world. Dave had a remarkable ability to encourage, uplift, and connect with people, reflecting God's love in both his leadership and his friendships. We will miss Dave deeply and are grateful for the many ways he gave of himself to HOPE worldwide and to the amazing people we get to serve. We’re holding Angela and their family close in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Dave’s presence will be deeply missed, but his faith, love, and example will remain in our hearts forever and his legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
